Bruno Guimaraes now sends new emotional message to Newcastle fans

Bruno Guimaraes continues to dazzle for Newcastle United.

In a season that has often proved oh so turbulent, Guimaraes has been pretty much one of the only constants in a Newcastle team ravaged by injuries.

The 26-year-old has missed just one game all season and that was due to suspension. Not only is he a fantastic player, the Brazilian international is pretty much always available.

Indeed, all of that makes the prospect of losing him this summer all the more galling.

Eddie Howe, after all, has confirmed the midfielder does have a release clause in his contract.

Paris Saint-Germain have been strongly linked with a move for Guimaraes, along with Premier League giants such as Manchester City and Arsenal.

It remains to be seen whether or not the former Lyon star does ultimately stay but he has constantly talked about his desire to, in an ideal world.

Clearly, that doesn’t mean much when a team could realistically offer him a huge deal were they to activate his clause but it seems the player himself won’t be forcing an exit.

It’s difficult to get too romantic about anything in modern football. Players leave clubs they have connections to all the time.

Still, it’s really quite obvious that Guimaraes loves playing for Newcastle.

After Saturday’s win over Sheffield United, he sent another emotional message.

Bruno Guimaraes sends emotional message to Newcastle fans after beating Sheffield United

The Brazil star scored against the Blades as Newcastle came from behind to beat them and duly condemned their visitors to another relegation.

The excellent Wor Flags group arranged a banner for Guimaraes and Joelinton which read: “From Aliança and Rio to Newcastle upon Tyne, a home away from home. Joelinton and Bruno, our Brazilian Geordies.”

Guimaraes was delighted with that and posted on X (formerly Twitter): “I’ve never been so grateful! Thank you for everything, NUFC fans. What a day! I Will never forget it.”

Bruno Guimaraes could only have one game left at St James’ Park

Though there’s little to suggest Guimaraes himself will push for a move, it would be foolish to dismiss the idea of him leaving out of hand both because of the release clause and the sheer number of links.

If he does indeed leave, Toon fans will only get one more chance to see him at St James’ Park as a Newcastle player.

That comes against Brighton on Saturday 11 March as Howe’s side play their other three remaining games on the road.

That is a scary prospect…
