‘Rightly so’: Alan Shearer shares brutally honest thoughts after Salah-Klopp fall out

Forget about Liverpool supporters, not even their rivals expected this mess!

The Premier League title chase in taters, out of the FA Cup, out of the Europa League and now a falling out between Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool dropping points away at West Ham United were bad enough. Days after losing the Merseyside derby to Everton, they were, once again, unable to respond with a strong performance and a win.

Yes, mathematically, Liverpool are still in the Premier League title race, but even the most ardent of supporters know it’s now over.

You would think that would be the toughest thing to take, but the fans then had to watch Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah in a quite heated exchange on the touchline.

Dropping the 31-year-old has happened often in the past few weeks, but the departing boss decided to bench his star man for the trip to the London Stadium.

Let’s be honest, since returning from injury, Salah has been off it and been part of the problem for his team.

But the Egypt star clearly was annoyed and frustrated, as he expressed that to Klopp just before he was coming onto the pitch during the game.

Salah is experienced enough to know that the cameras are watching, and regardless of the result, in this case, a 2-2 draw, it was going to be the main headline.

Alan Shearer stated that all of this is a ‘shame’ before sharing his brutally honest thoughts on the matter, as he told Match of the Day.

West Ham United 2-2 Liverpool

“We don’t know what Klopp has said to him there,” said Shearer. “He has said something that’s riled him.

“He has obviously got the right hump with being left out, and probably right so, even though he hasn’t hit the heights that Mo Salah has done over the years. He has been an unbelievable player. Ignores Jurgen (after the match) and gives the Liverpool fans a round of applause and goes straight down the tunnel.

“But we are guessing as to what Jurgen has said to him. I understand if Mo has the right hump, because the number of times he has been to Liverpool’s saviour and superstar. He has 17 in 25 league starts. Anyone else and you would think that is unbelievable. It’s a shame that it’s going to end like that because of what Klopp and Salah have done.”

Liverpool’s end of season

At the end of the day, someone like Salah needs to realise that this is now about the badge on the front, rather than the name on the back.

Yes, the season is over for the team, but it’s time to play for pride.

Before Arne Slot arrives, Liverpool need to end on a high and ensure that their legendary manager leaves with a win.

You feel there would be many regrets if Salah leaves the scene in a hump and with his relationship with Klopp broken.

Both are legendary figures at Anfield and are now in the final few weeks before, at least one of them leaves for good.
