'That's easy': Rico Lewis says one Man City star is easily the best player in the world in his position

Rico Lewis has claimed that Manchester City have a player who is the best in the world in his position.

Lewis can make such a statement about several of his teammates.

In some ways, the Manchester City academy graduate has the fortune to be able to do so.

Unlike Rico Lewis, not many young players have the opportunity to train and play with such superstars in the game.

However, the 19-year-old is perhaps no different than to play in a team with such standards.

Considering the quality of players Rico Lewis has learned from is one of the many reasons why his future looks bright.

Rico Lewis says City star is the best player in his position in the world

Based on this season, for instance, if the England international claimed Phil Foden is the best midfielder in the world, not many would class that as an outlandish shout.

However, if Rico Lewis said the same about Rodri or Kevin De Bruyne, his claims would likely be viewed as justified.

Similarly, if the treble-winner stated that John Stones or Ruben Dias were the best centre-backs in the world, he would be justified in believing that to be the case.

Such is the quality amongst which Rico Lewis plays with and having played alongside such players, he knows more than most how brilliant they are as well as their top mentalities.

However, Lewis was asked a question in his area of expertise.

And he did not hesitate for even a second.

In a ‘Best Friends Quiz’ with Sky Sports that he took alongside Nathan Ake, both he and Rico Lewis were asked who is the best right-back in the world and they wrote down Kyle Walker on their whiteboards.

“Of course, that’s easy. That’s easy”, Lewis said.

“No doubt.”

Rico Lewis would be inspired by Kyle Walker this season

Particularly this season, Rico Lewis would likely be inspired by Kyle Walker even more than he perhaps has been in previous campaigns.

To have witnessed the £175,000-a-week man take on the role of City captain with aplomb must inspire Lewis, for starters.

Most, if not every young player’s dream is to become club captain one day.

In addition, Walker has played in a variety of roles this campaign and done his best to adapt to them; especially as a makeshift wing-back in possession, which is a skill Lewis would perhaps like to hone.

To add to that, it must be inspiring to see a legend of the game continue to compete at the highest level as a 33-year-old for a teenager like him.

It is clear to see that Rico Lewis holds Kyle Walker in high regard with how he did not hesitate much to claim he is the best right-back in the world.
