Ange Postecoglou has identified 23-year-old striker who he’d love Daniel Levy to sign for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has now identified a 23-year-old striker who he’d love to see signed this summer.

Defeat on the weekend for Tottenham against their north London rivals only highlighted their need to add an out and out striker over the coming months.

Heung-min Son started the game through the middle with Richarlison coming off the bench to make his return from injury.

But the loss of Harry Kane over the summer was certainly felt with Spurs reliant on Cristian Romero and a spot kick to find the back of the net.

The summer will provide Ange Postecoglou with another opportunity to add his finishing touches to this side which he inherited almost 12 months ago.

And a striker is expected to be on the radar with the 58-year-old believed to have identified a player who he feels would be a great fit for his system.

A number of strikers are set to be a topic of discussion across Europe this summer, but it seems Posteocoglou has one he is really keen on.

Ange Postecoglou earmarks striker to finally succeed Harry Kane at Tottenham

Bringing in a striker to replace Kane is never going to happen. The England captain is the club’s record goalscorer and finding a player to follow that up just isn’t realistic.

However, Spurs have certainly been tested this season with Richarlison’s campaign hindered through injuries.

Although Son has enjoyed a 15 goals term in the Premier League, it has become abundantly clear that the South Korean is not the answer through the middle.

And with that, a new striker in the summer looks like a necessity for Daniel Levy to provide Postecoglou if Spurs are to progress.

According to reports, Spurs hold an interest in the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez – who was in attendance for Sunday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And now GiveMeSport are suggesting this is the striker which Postecoglou really likes and feels could be perfect for his system.

“I think from the Premier League, Tottenham are still the ones to watch, they’ve been tracking Gimenez since November,” said reporter Ben Jacobs.

“He’s a player that Ange Postecoglou in particular likes and thinks could fit their system.”

Interesting stats that show Santiago Gimenez would be an improvement on Richarlison

Although Richarlison has had it rough with his knee injury over the last couple of months, the Brazilian did show some fine form prior.

However, if Spurs are to really push forward then they need a striker who is both reliable with his fitness and in front of goal.

Here is a rundown of how Gimenez stacks up against Richarlison this season.

The Spurs News also understand that Tottenham would be open to the idea of selling Richarlison this summer if the right offer was to land.
