West Ham fans can rejoice as Man Utd reportedly eye up manager with 1 major trophy in 21 years

West Ham United could be about to receive a big gift from Manchester United, with the Premier League giants eyeing up one new manager in particular.

Both West Ham and Manchester United appear to be on the lookout for a new manager this summer, with David Moyes and Erik ten Hag being tipped to leave the London Stadium and Old Trafford respectively.

Moyes recently hinted that he will actually still be at the London Stadium next season, but I think it’s pretty obvious to see that he won’t be.

The football that he’s had us playing this season is absolutely dire, and unbefitting of a team with so many quality and technically gifted players.

The result have been awful in 2024 as well, with just four wins from our last 22 outings in all competitions.

The same can be said for Man United. Ten Hag is under real pressure after a poor season so far, and the fact that he’s got his side to the FA Cup final is probably the only thing that has kept him in the job.

Now it seems like both clubs could be going for the same manager this summer…

Manchester United eye up new manager wanted by West Ham

If Man United and the Hammers offer you a job, it’s pretty obvious what one you’re taking right?

Even the most ardent of West Ham fans would admit that the opportunity to manage Manchester United is one that 99% of football managers wouldn’t turn down.

And that is actually great news for us this time around…

According to a report from Corriere della Sera, Manchester United have ‘carried out a survey’ on Julen Lopetegui, as they look into potential replacements for Erik ten Hag.

Despite recent claims suggesting that the former Wolves boss is close to taking over at AC Milan, a report has suggested that West Ham are very much back in the race for his signature.

If the Red Devils appoint Lopetegui, 57, it will be great news for the Hammers. He’s quite simply not a big enough upgrade on Moyes in my eyes.

The Spaniard has won just one major trophy in his 21-year managerial career – the Europa League in 2020 during his time in charge of Sevilla.

Lopetegui is a staunch pragmatist, and we need someone who’s going to come in and get our exceptionally gifted stars playing some properly exciting football.

I want Ruben Amorim, Paulo Fonseca or even Hansi Flick to replace Moyes, not the Spaniard.

And with Manchester United eyeing up a new manager this summer, the 20-time league champions could well do us a massive favour by appointing Lopetegui.
