‘Crazy’: Ally McCoist thinks Chelsea could be about to make a 'big mistake' this summer

Chelsea could be forced to sell players at the end of the season because of profit and sustainability rules.

It has not been a good campaign for the club, so a lot of players really should not be safe.

The likes of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, for example, have underperformed.

The former has scored just six goals in the Premier League this term, while the latter has managed four.

Conor Gallagher‘s contract is running down, so he is definitely someone who will not be feeling safe at Chelsea right now.

Ally McCoist fears Chelsea are about to make ‘big mistake’

It remains to be seen who Chelsea get rid of, but it is quite clear that there are probably going to be departures.

Rangers legend Ally McCoist, however, thinks the Blues would be mad to sell Gallagher.

Speaking about the midfielder on talkSPORT (30/04/2024 at 08:14), he said: “That would be, in my opinion, crazy, crazy. I think his attitude to play, his willingness to play, his desire to play is something that Chelsea fans can relate to.

“I think they should let a few more go before they let Gallagher, that’s for sure. I think it would be a big mistake.”

One other player Chelsea should definitely not sell alongside Conor Gallagher

When you look at how Gallagher has performed this season, selling him would be a big mistake.

The 24-year-old has made 74 tackles in the Premier League, leaving him just outside the top 15 players for that department.

As well as Gallagher, Chelsea should also not entertain any offers for Cole Palmer, of course.

There is nothing to suggest that another club is going to move for him this summer, but given how the attacker has been playing since arriving at Stamford Bridge, it would not be a surprise if someone eventually did.

He has scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in 40 appearances for the Blues this season.
