Report: Four players Chelsea want to sell before the end of next month

Chelsea had quite a bit of a clearout last summer and could have another one next month.

In their last one, they sold the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek just to name a few players.

Mason Mount and Kai Havertz were also allowed to leave Chelsea, though you suspect that the club may have kept hold of them if they were on longer deals.

In the same transfer window, the Blues also signed a lot of players, players who were not cheap. Moises Caicedo, for example, became their most expensive ever addition after joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in a £115m deal.

It now looks like Chelsea will have to sell more of their assets before anyone else comes in.

Chelsea want to offload four players before the end of June

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea need to sell academy players for pure profit, which will then allow them to spend more money in the transfer window.

The same outlet claims that they want sales to go through before 30th June so that they can be included in their 2024-25 accounts.

The Standard’s report mentions Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, Ian Maatsen and Armando Broja all as players Chelsea would be willing to sell.

Maatsen and Broja are out on loan, so it is quite unlikely that they have long-term futures at Chelsea.

Which player should Chelsea keep?

If Chelsea have to sell three of the above names but are allowed to keep one, then the man they should retain is Gallagher.

He has been such an important player for Mauricio Pochettino this season, making 45 appearances in all competitions.

As per WhoScored, the England international is also in Chelsea’s top three players for tackles and interceptions per game.

Given their current predicament in the left-back position — Ben Chilwell can just not stay fit these days — you would not say no to Maatsen either. If it is not Gallagher, then it should be the Dutchman.
