Report: Arne Slot wants to make £51m Chelsea target his first signing for Liverpool

Reports have claimed that Chelsea and Liverpool could be about to go to war again over a new signing this summer.

The Blues look as if they are going to be busy again this summer in their attempts to rejuvenate the squad that they put together for this campaign.

They spent big particularly last summer on the playing squad, even smashing their recently set record transfer fee to bring in Moises Caicedo.

The battle to sign the Ecuador international went on for the majority of the summer, and they were not the only side looking to sign him.

Liverpool were keen to add him to their midfield too, and even looked as if they were the favourites at one point.

It looks as if there could be another battle between the two sides if they want another midfielder, with it being claimed that potential new Reds boss Arne Slot is keen to make one Chelsea target one of his first signings.

Arne Slot wants Chelsea target Teun Koopmeiners

According to the Mail Online, the Dutch boss has identified Teun Koopmeiners as one of his top targets going into next season.

It had been reported that the Blues were ready to offer up to £51m for the Atalanta star in the coming transfer window, as they plotted potentially having to replace Conor Gallagher this summer.

Chelsea still looking to sell Conor Gallagher

Despite the England international’s clear importance to the side at this point, there are still reports that the club would be open to his sale in order to balance the books and facilitate another big summer.

Many supporters will be a bit concerned that reports of a new contract being agreed are still not appearing, with him being crucial for Mauricio Pochettino right now.

It would be another sign of the owners being out of touch with what supporters want if he were to be sold at the end of this season.
