Report: £45m player decides he wants to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal, after claims he could be sold

Arsenal look set for yet another busy summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta goes about improving his squad.

The Gunners could yet land their first Premier League title in 20 years this season as they lead the way in the league. Much will depend on Manchester City, who sit just a point behind Arsenal with a game in hand.

Regardless of whether or not Arsenal get over the line, Mikel Arteta is expected to seek reinforcements in key areas this summer.

Indeed, the Gunners remain keen on a deal for Ajax left-back Jorrel Hato amid concerns over Oleksandr Zinchenko’s recent form.

Arteta’s men have also been heavily linked with a move for a new forward, despite Kai Havertz’s stunning form since the turn of the year.

It was claimed on Wednesday that the north Londoners are prepared to listen to offers for Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus this summer.

But with Arsenal eyeing attacking targets ahead of the summer, it seems one of their forwards will be staying put.

Gabriel Jesus wants to stay at Arsenal

Following claims that Arsenal could be willing to listen to offers for Jesus, The Sun has shared the Brazilian’s stance on a possible exit.

Jesus is reportedly happy in north London and willing to fight for his place in Arteta’s side.

It’s noted that the 27-year-old is willing to put in the work to regain his place in Arsenal’s starting line-up.

Arteta is also said to remain a huge fan of his striker, who he snapped up for £45 million from Manchester City almost two years ago.

Despite Arteta’s admiration for Jesus, the outlet notes that this is unlikely to stop the Gunners boss from targeting a new striker.

Jesus’s stats for Arsenal this season

There’s no getting away from the fact that it’s been a difficult season for Jesus.

The Brazilian starred in his debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium but he’s managed just four Premier League goals this time around.

His record in the Champions League was more encouraging, bagging four times in eight appearances in the competition.

Despite his obvious limitations in front of goal, it would make little sense for Arsenal to offload the Brazil star.

Jesus can operate across the frontline and barring his finishing, his all-round game is exceptional. The forward works incredibly hard for the team and is clearly a popular figure at the Emirates.

You’d imagine that Nketiah could face the exit door before Jesus, particularly as he’s barely featured since the turn of the year.
