The Premier League form table since November makes damning reading for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur lost their third consecutive Premier League game last night in their trip to Chelsea.

After beating Aston Villa on their own pitch back in March, Tottenham‘s form has fallen off a cliff and any hope of Champions League qualification is all but gone.

Ange Postecoglou cast a frustrated figure on the touchline last night at Stamford Bridge with his players clearly not doing what they were asked.

A number of changes were made by the Australian with James Maddison dropping out of the starting XI amid his poor run of form.

The England midfielder’s form has been synonymous with Tottenham’s overall form since the turn of the year.

Maddison picked up an ankle issue back in the reverse fixture against Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium an has been unable to find the form prior to the issue.

And the Premier League form guide has now shown the extent of how poor Tottenham’s form has been since the defeat to the Blues back in November.

Tottenham’s form since November makes for brutal reading

After starting the campaign off in impressive style, Tottenham’s season now looks set to fizzle out.

Europa League qualification would mark good progress for the north London club, but it could have been a lot more in a season without any European commitments.

And the fact Spurs have now conceded six points to a struggling Chelsea side this season sums up their lack of cutting edge.

Spurs started off the season sharp and looking like a real attacking threat. They are now ending the campaign limping over the line.

Looking at the Premier League form table since the first time Tottenham played Chelsea, it shows just how much Spurs have fallen off.

Set pieces costing Tottenham once again on Thursday

Tottenham will need to get used to playing Thursday night football as they look set to be playing in the Europa League next term.

However, something Postecoglou needs to address over the summer is how Spurs defend set pieces.

Spurs conceded from a free-kick for the first goal and then the rebound of another free-kick for the second goal last night.

But it is apparent Postecoglou feels these struggles are just part and parcel of a rebuild at a club.

In his press conference on Friday morning at Hotspur Way, the 58-year-old said: “It’s not a concern. It’s part of the process. As I said, it’s where we’re at. You need to understand when there is change, it’s not easy, it’s not smooth and it’s not supposed to be.

“If you’re really going to build for success, you need to go through tough times. You don’t go out trying to fashion them, you don’t create the tough times on purpose but you have to go through them.”
