Pep Guardiola to make four changes, two big returns: Man City predicted line-up vs Wolves

Pep Guardiola could welcome back three crucial players to the starting XI when Manchester City take on Wolves on Saturday.

Manchester City have enjoyed a rare mid-week off due to their elimination from the Champions League and will feel refreshed going into yet another crucial match.

Pep Guardiola’s side know that if they win their four remaining games then they will claim their fourth Premier League title in succession regardless of what rivals Arsenal do.

But any slip-up could prove fatal so the pressure is on when Wolves, a team they lost to earlier this season, come to the Etihad.

City will at least be boosted by two crucial returns and won’t be missing one pivotal player despite him suffering a worrying injury last week.

Man City team news vs Wolves

Guardiola revealed in his pre-match press conference that Ederson will be fine to play the match despite concerns over an injury.

The goalkeeper had to be taken off at half-time in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest last week and left the City Ground with his arm in a sling.

That naturally sparked fears Ederson could be out for a significant amount of time but, as it transpires, the injury was not an issue at all.

Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference: “He’s okay. Looks worse, then he feels good. Yesterday we train he feels good.”

[Could be back this weekend?] “Yep.”

In more good news, Phil Foden and Ruben Dias are both fit to return after missing last weekend with a bout of illness. All three will likely be in the starting XI.

So it will likely be Ederson starting in goal instead of Stefan Ortega with Dias coming into the heart of defence in place of Nathan Ake.

There may be another change at centre-back, too, with John Stones returning to the fold for Manuel Akanji. Josko Gvardiol and Kyle Walker may continue at full-back.

Likewise, there may not be any changes in the middle of the park.

City lost to Wolves when Rodri was suspended but that won’t be an issue this time with Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva starting either side of the Spaniard.

Player of the Season Foden may come back in for Jeremy Doku, with Jack Grealish keeping his place, and Erling Haaland could return to the lineup in place of Julian Alvarez.

The Norwegian scored off the bench last week and Guardiola says he’s now ready to start after his injury trouble.
