Apple set to bring out another version of the iPhone to combat most complained about problem

Apple is reportedly in the early planning stages of next year’s iPhone 17, which rumors claim will be nicknamed “slim” due to its dramatically reduced size.

Each year, Apple releases an iPhone that looks eerily similar to the one before, and the one before that. Though the design has not changed massively over the years besides the removal of buttons, recent news surrounding iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 has suggested the company is moving in more unique directions.

What we know about the iPhone 17 Slim

Despite being just a few months away from unveiling the iPhone 16 range, inside rumors are already spinning around the 2025 iPhone 17 release.

The latest tech rumor comes straight from analyst Jeff Pu, who detailed in a research note how Apple is planning to do away with the Plus model of their iPhone range. Instead, they would replace the Plus with the iPhone 17 Slim alongside the standard model release.

He further noted how the model would feature a 6.6-inch display, a slimmer design, an A18 or A19 chip, 8GB of RAM, a 24-megapixel front camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera!

As reported by Mac Rumors, industry analyst Ross Young said the iPhone 17 Slim would have a 6.55-inch display, which is slightly less than the iPhone 15 Plus’ 6.7-inch display.

Though the iPhone 17 Slim is still over a year away, hardcore Apple fans can look forward to September for this year’s shiny new products. In September, it’s expected that Apple will announce the iPhone 16 range with the Apple Watch X, New Apple Watch Ultra, and AirPods 4.

Recently, a report from the Chinese outlet Economic Daily claimed that the iPhone 16 range would not be built with buttons. Instead, it’s believed that it will feature capacitive buttons, which work by sensing the pressure of your finger through a touchscreen-like surface.

Customers have had a mixed reaction to the button news, with one person penning on Twitter: “If the iPhone 16 actually gets capacitative buttons it’ll be pretty interesting imo tbh, I remember having my iPhone 7 and it took me like half a year to realize the button wasnt even a moving button; besides tbh, I think having the better waterproof capability is good IMO.”

“I pray that the rumor about the ‘capture’ button on the iPhone 16 is untrue,” another person said, as a third shouted, “I have never seen something like this before in my entire life.”
