Ange Postecoglou reveals what he wants from Daniel Levy in the summer transfer window at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has now issued a transfer message to Daniel Levy ahead of the summer.

The north London club have just three games remaining in what has been a season of growth under Ange Postecoglou.

By no means has this been a flawless season with Tottenham on a run of four consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

However, the signs are there for Spurs heading in the right direction with the Australian bringing progression to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs have had to deal with the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, but the two transfer windows Postecoglou has had so far have provided some exciting new players at Hotspur Way.

Clearly, though, there is still a lot of work to be done with Spurs falling short in the race for Champions League qualification.

However, this summer will offer Postecoglou with another opportunity to put his stamp on the squad by making the changes he feels necessary.

And he has now already sent out a message to Daniel Levy with his expectations for the upcoming window.

Ange Postecoglou lays out his expectations for the summer transfer window

The additions of Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario have proven to be real coups for Tottenham this season.

And then there have been players like Radu Dragusin who arrived in January and has struggled to earn many opportunities but does provide strength in depth in defence.

As Spurs look to qualify for the Europa League ahead of next season, strong squad depth is exactly what Postecoglou will need to compete on all fronts.

Cup competitions proved extremely underwhelming for Spurs this season and a repeat of that next term will not go down well with the fans.

Speaking to Optus Sport ahead of the final three games of the season, Postecoglou has suggested just that.

The 58-year-old has admitted he will be looking to really bolster the strength in depth of this Tottenham squad with high aspirations ahead of the new term.

“It was never gonna happen over two transfer windows because you’ve got to remember when I came in last year the team had finished eighth. But it wasn’t eighth of a team that was on the climb. It was eighth of a team that was kind of going in the other direction because a lot of players were kind of getting to the age where it was time for the next challenge,” he said.

“I think the formation we have we’re further along but we need to start filling the gaps further up. In terms of our starting XI, but also more importantly for our squad.”

Tottenham already handed early summer transfer blow

As Postecoglou has already admitted the club will be looking to add another centre-back to their squad over the summer, there has already been one player reject Tottenham’s offer.

Spurs have shown a keen interest in Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, however, it has now been reported that the defender has snubbed an approach from Spurs.

Although Tottenham could return with an improved offer, it has to be questioned what Dragusin’s situation has played a role in his decision.

In theory, a defender at Spurs should get good rotational game time next season, but the Romanian has only played 229 minutes of football since arriving in January.

With other clubs interested in Tosin, perhaps he is eyeing more regular game time elsewhere.
