£18m-rated star wanted by Nottingham Forest named best midfielder in his current league

A player wanted by Nottingham Forest has now been named as the best midfielder in the division he currently plays in.

The summer looks like being a hectic time for Forest once again – with a number of issues to sort out in the squad.

Forest are going to have financial fair play loitering over them again and that could mean some high-profile departures.

The Reds will therefore have to cut their cloth accordingly and some shrewd business will be necessary.

One man who has been linked with a cup price deal has now been named as the best midfielder in his division – and it feels like one worth looking at.

Lewis Ferguson named Best Midfield in Serie A

Well, this could be good news – although there is a bit of a catch from a Forest perspective.

It’s been announced byBBC Sport that Forest-linked midfielder Ferguson has been named as the Best Midfielder in Serie A.

Forest had been linked with the player that Bologna were considering possibly selling for around £18 million.

However, the player will be happy with this accolade but he is unlikely to be back playing football until the New Year.

Ferguson ruptured his knee ligaments earlier this season and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Following his injury, Ferguson received well wishes from both Remo Freuler and Nicolas Dominguez on social media.

The Scotland star will miss Euro 2024 and now it looks likely that he will remain at Bologna for the time being.

Forest must keep Ferguson on their radar

The 24-year-old has now won this accolade that has been won by some top players in the past.

Sandro Tonali, now of Newcastle, has lifted the award, with Daniele De Rossi and Nicolo Barella also listed among previous winners.

With this in mind, Forest must keep their eye on Ferguson with one eye on the future amid a host of interest in their other midfielders.

Ferguson would surely love to return to the United Kingdom one day and if Forest remain in the Premier League they have to keep monitoring him.

The player has scored six goals and claimed five assists this season and having a midfielder add those sort of numbers would be ideal for Forest in the future.

In the short term, Ferguson won’t be passing a medical anywhere but there is no saying that Forest should wash their hands of the player just yet.
