Fnatic confirms MagiFelix as its 6th player for Worlds 2020 Academy mid laner joins the main roster in Shanghai

As the team travels to Shanghai for the 2020 World Championship, Europe's Fnatic has confirmed academy mid laner Felix "MagiFelix" Boström as its 6th man for the tournament.

Riot is continuing to allow one substitute player per team at Worlds, though Fnatic has not utilized any talent outside of its main roster so far this season. Jungler Daniel "Dan" Hockley had been promoted from academy squad Fnatic Rising for last year's Rift Rivals tournament where he played twice, and also went to Worlds 2019 without making an appearance. This time around, teammate MagiFelix has made the cut and will travel with the team to be called upon if required.

Fnatic's roster at LoL Worlds 2020 will include the following players:

  • Top - Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau
  • Jungle - Oskar "Selfmade" Boderek
  • Mid - Tim "Nemesis" Lipovšek
  • Bot - Martin "Rekkles" Larsson
  • Support - Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov
  • Sub/mid - Felix "MagiFelix" Boström

MagiFelix is perhaps best known for his solo queue exploits. Nicknamed MagiFaker by much of fans, he is rose to prominence for his astonishing ability to continuously maintain a number of accounts at the top of the Challenger ladder. He has been with Fnatic Rising competing in the UKLC and NLC since Spring 2018 and has won four out of four splits during this time, but the team has struggled in European Masters.

The trip to China means that the Swede's team was forced to substitute Tenzin "Chibs" Rigzang for its remaining group stage games in the ongoing EUM. Losses to France's GamersOrigin and Germany's mousesports saw the team exit the competition in the organization's worst-ever performance since the tournament was introduced in Spring 2019.

In a statement announcing their decision, Fnatic explained that it was "not an easy choice to see Felix miss the end of EUM", but that they "fully believe his addition will make a significant difference at Worlds".
