'Monster Hunter Rise' is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch next year.
Developers at Capcom have revealed a brand new game in the 'Monster Hunter' franchise will hit the Nintendo hybrid console on March 26, 2021, and will be available with its own set of Amiibo figures - which are collectable figurines that can be scanned for bonus content in-game - from launch.
The news was confirmed during a Nintendo Direct Mini this week, where a trailer was debuted showing the hero using grapple points to navigate around the open world and facing a series of fearsome beasts.
Players will be accompanied on their journey by a wolf-like companion which they can use as a mount, whilst a voiceover in the trailer seemingly confirmed the final boss of the game will be a monster called Magnamalo.
Capcom promises a "story-based RPG experience" where you assume control of a new Monster Rider, and the title will be playable alone or in a four-player co-op.
Also confirmed in the Nintendo Direct Mini was the sequel to 'Monster Hunter Stories', the spin-off game from the main franchise which was originally released for the 3DS in 2016.
'Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin' will come to the Nintendo Switch in the summer of 2021, and will have cross-compatibility features with 'Monster Hunter Rise', for those who will play both games.
It's not yet known as of the time of writing what those features will be.
