Zendaya planned to wear Emmy Awards dress to the Golden Globes

Zendaya was supposed to wear her Emmy Awards dress to the Golden Globes.

The 24-year-old star accepted her Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama award from home on Sunday (20.09.20) in a stunning crystal and pearl bandeau top and custom matte weave ballgown polka dot skirt by Armani Privé and her stylist Law Roach revealed the outfit had been a long time in the making because the 'Euphoria' actress originally had it for another red carpet event.

Law said: "She didn't end up going to the Globes, so the dress was waiting for its moment, and what a moment it became.

"It all just worked; the skirt, the top, the earrings that matched the pink polka dots, everything was there."

Earlier in the evening, the 'Euphoria' star had appeared in person at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in a moire and silk taffeta gown from Christopher John Rogers and the stylist admitted he knew as soon as he saw the gown at the designer's fall/winter 2020 show, he requested it be put aside for his client.

He told Vogue.com: "I texted Christopher right after the show and said 'please hold that for Zendaya.'

"We'd been waiting for the moment to work with Christopher. He held that dress all this time just for her, and I thought that was such a beautiful [gesture] because I know they get tons of requests."

Jewellery from Bulgari completed Zendaya's look, with her showstopper statement necklace - which featured seven giant cushion-cut amethysts, rubellites, and emeralds - being a huge departure for the 'Greatest Showman' star, but a great fit for the evening.

Law said: "It was so beautiful and modern.

"Normally Zendaya isn't a necklace girl; this might be the first time we've ever done such a substantial necklace for the red carpet or an awards show. It was just so beautiful in person.

"It brought out everything within the dress, and there was just a great flow between the outfit and accessories."
