Kearney, Nebraska - The Epicenter of Visual Sports Data

Three guys with Kearney, Nebraska connections created Fanalytix, the visual interactive image of an entire game in a single picture that is updated live as the game is played.

Brian Niemann, Jeff Niemann and myself all have a Kearney connection. Jeff and Brian grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School. Jeff went to college at Nebraska where he got his engineering degree. Brian graduated from UN-Kearney the first year it became UNK. Their father Don was a math professor at UNK for 29 years and in education for over 50 years and still lives in Kearney.

I had relatives in Kearney that were cousins of my mother Margaret, Stan and Velma Silver and Velma's sister Bonnie Bernholtz. Because of our visits to them I chose Kearney over the University of Nebraska. I graduated with a bachelor degree in 1973 when UNK was still Kearney State College and still have high school and Kearney State friends that I visit in Kearney at least once a year from my home in California.

Brian first approached me about updating the HuskerMax logo which we did in early 2020. He also approached me about his idea to create a visual image of an entire game in a single picture that is interactive where you can drill down on individual drives, plays and multiple other statistics. He named it Fanalytix. We created the company in mid 2020. Here's a sample.

Brian's brother Jeff is as good of a programmer as Brian is at graphic design so their skills complement each other for this project. Maybe it's because he and Brian got an A in Calculus when their Dad was the teacher. Jeff spent the better part of a year developing the programming for Fanalytix.

In addition to creating awareness I provided the introduction to our database provider that updates the statistics in real time so you can get live updates as the game is played and have a full interactive version after the game is over.

We have the entire 2021 season for major college and NFL football games available. You can click around on the image and the navigation buttons on the right to select individual teams or play weeks for both the NCAA and NFL. Once you select a team and a game you can drill down all the way to each individual play and score in the game. Here is the how to read guide.

You can look up all the Nebraska 2021 games by clicking on the Fanalytix image link for each game in the photo gallery at the bottom of this page. They are also available on the HuskerMax forums at this link. Here is the Nebraska 2021 season. I know many games are not pretty score wise but it does give insight to trends that we as Husker fans hope are reversed in 2022 with our new offensive coaching staff. Click on the text link below each image for the interactive version.
