As an expected announcement of a 2024 election bid by former President Donald Trump looms closer, Trump is once again butting heads with media giant CNN.

In a 282-page statement written by Trump and his lawyers, the group blamed CNN for faulty reporting along with defamation from 2016 to the present day.

“I have notified CNN of my intent to file a lawsuit over their repeated defamatory statements against me,” Trump’s statement read. “I will also be commencing actions against other media outlets who have defamed me and defrauded the public regarding the overwhelming evidence of fraud throughout the 2020 Election. I will never stop fighting for the truth and for the future of our Country!”

Adding to the accusation, Trump’s team stated that CNN calling his election conspiracy theories “lies” and “false narratives” counted as “false and defamatory” remarks against the former president.

Since leaving office, Trump has campaigned alongside fellow election deniers and conspiracy theorists. His endorsements often clashed with those of more mainstream Republicans running for office, especially in states where his election conspiracies were the center of attention.

The statement continued, “Without regard for President Trump’s genuine belief in his statements, CNN has published numerous articles characterizing him as a ‘liar’ and the purveyor of the ‘Big Lie.”
