'I was criticised': Gary Neville says 'unbelievable' Tottenham man is one of the best in the world

Gary Neville has now been pointing out how right he was when delivering heavy praise for a Tottenham Hotspur man a few years ago.

Right now, Ange Postecoglou will just be determined to get his side back into the Champions League for next season with the minimal amount of fuss.

He clearly doesn’t see it as an achievement that needs celebrating, nor does he want fourth place to be a barometer of success, but even so it will be difficult to finish ahead of Aston Villa.

Despite Spurs’ remarkable 4-0 win away at Villa Park, they then completely killed their momentum in west London, leaving for the international break in sour mood.

That being said, Saturday’s game against Luton Town is a chance to make things right, and Tottenham will probably be flying out of the blocks.

Of course, Tottenham will need Champions League football to truly unlock their potential in this summer’s transfer window, when they are thought to be in a very strong financial position.

Spurs will need to be back in Europe’s top competition to lure the best talent to north London, making the most of all they’ve achieved off of the pitch of late.

Gary Neville says Tottenham’s Daniel Levy is one of the best in the world

Speaking on The Overlap today, Gary Neville credited Daniel Levy for getting Tottenham into the position they are in today, saying he’s done a remarkable job with the club’s finances.

The pundit said he was criticised when praising Levy before, but thought his words had now been justified – even if there was still some improvement to be had.

Neville explained: “I said a few years ago and it was criticised at the time.

“I think he’s the best operator in football because actually if you look at what he’s done off the pitch, there is no one I think apart from Manchester City with that endless cash that they have has developed their stadium/training ground in the way which Tottenham have.

“It’s unbelievable what he’s done. The problem is he’s never really got it right on the football side.”

Of course, it does now seem as if Tottenham have their best chance of success for some time with Postecoglou and Levy seemingly enjoying such a harmonious and productive relationship.

Ultimately the proof will be in the pudding in seasons to come, but there’s certainly no reason for negativity right now, and Gary Neville’s praise of the Tottenham boss seems justified.

That being said, Graeme Souness has recently made a bold claim about Tottenham’s new stadium.
