Report: £27m Tottenham player is now planning to force a move away from the club this summer

Tottenham Hotspur look set for a busy summer ahead as they continue to build a side in Ange Postecoglou’s image.

Their latest defeat at Newcastle United shows there is plenty of work to be done, despite undeniable progress under the Aussie boss.

Ange Postecoglou took over a side which had failed to qualify for Europe for the first time since 2009 last term.

With Spurs still in the mix for a top-four finish, it has to be said that Postecoglou has enjoyed a promising debut campaign so far.

But the former Celtic man is a long way off building a side that suits his system and we’re likely to see plenty of activity at Tottenham this summer.

Postecoglou has wasted no time in overhauling his squad, with the likes of Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Davinson Sanchez and Harry Kane all heading out the door.

Barring Kane’s departure, exits at Spurs have been long overdue after their squad became stale under previous managers.

And according to reports in Spain, Giovani Lo Celso could be the next player to leave Spurs due to a lack of game time.

Giovani Lo Celso set to push for Tottenham exit

According to Estadio Deportivo, Lo Celso is planning to force a move away from Tottenham this summer due to a ‘lack of opportunities’ under Postecoglou.

Despite interest from Barcelona last summer, the Argentine opted to stay in north London after a promising pre-season.

But the outlet claims that Lo Celso is ready to push for an exit after Daniel Levy and Postecoglou ‘sold him a bike that didn’t even get off the ground’.

It’s noted that Real Betis remain keen on a reunion with the midfielder after selling him to Tottenham back in the summer of 2019.

Lo Celso deserves an opportunity at Tottenham

James Maddison hasn’t been in the best of form since his return from injury and Lo Celso has been used sparingly of late.

The 28-year-old performed well in Maddison’s absence but has yet to start a game since the Englishman’s return.

Postecoglou recently hailed Lo Celso as a ‘fantastic’ player but the midfielder has managed just seven appearances from the bench since the turn of the year.

With Postecoglou struggling to find the right balance in midfield at the moment, you can’t help but feel the £27 million Argentine deserves another run in the side.
