West Ham United sources have told TBR Football that they have not offered the manager’s job to Ruben Amorim, after talks between the two parties.
Ruben Amorim and his agent met with West Ham officials in London on Monday evening, including technical director Tim Steidten.
However, TBR has been informed that after talks no offer was made and West Ham continue to keep abreast of the situation around David Moyes.
TBR understands that David Sullivan is still yet to make a firm decision, although a new contract offer for Moyes is increasingly unlikely.
West Ham yet to offer Amorim manager’s job
Amorim has impressed in Portugal with Sporting CP over the past four years.
The 39-year-old joined the Portuguese giants back in March 2020 off the back of a three-month spell at SC Braga.
During his time at Sporting, Amorim has delivered three domestic cups, as well as a league title back in 2020/21.
Amorim was just 36 when he landed his first Primeira Liga and Sporting are on the verge of securing their second during his tenure. With just four games left to play, Amorim’s men sit seven points clear of second-placed Benfica.
The Portuguese boss has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the season.
Amorim’s style of play
During his spell at Sporting, Amorim has favoured three-back formation and possession-based football.
His centre-backs are often tasked with building up play while the midfielders drop deep to receive the ball. The front three rotate and aim to exploit space in behind the opposition.
Out of possession, Amorim’s Sporting side press aggressively and aim to win the ball back high up the pitch.
Of course, much has been made of Moyes’ pragmatic style of football and it’s led to frustration amongst West Ham supporters.
Should Amorim arrive at the London Stadium, his approach is unlikely to disappoint the West Ham faithful.
