Matias Rojas has delivered his first words as an Inter Miami player after the transfer was officially announced by the club yesterday.

The Herons confirmed the capture of Rojas on Tuesday as the Paraguayan international finally joined the Florida franchise after a lengthy transfer saga, with Inter Miami finally getting the deal across the line heading into Saturday’s MLS clash with the New England Revolution.

A versatile player with an incredible wealth of experience playing for some of South America’s biggest clubs, Rojas’ arrival could not have been more timely with the news that Diego Gomez could miss up to six weeks of action due to an ankle injury.

And Rojas has now given his first interview since signing for Inter Miami.

Rojas says joining Inter Miami is ‘a dream come true’

Speaking to Inter Miami’s official website, the former Corinthians star revealed how happy he is to join the Herons, with Rojas describing the transfer as ‘a dream come true’ with the deal now officially completed.

The 28-year-old had previously stated his admiration for Lionel Messi after facing the Argentine superstar on international duty with Paraguay, with Rojas now finally a teammate of the reigning Ballon d’Or holder.

And heading into the upcoming MLS fixtures, Rojas will be keen to make an impact with his new team, with Tata Martino potentially having big plans in store for the new Inter Miami signing.

Rojas said when asked about joining Inter Miami: “I’m happy, joining a spectacular Club like Inter Miami is a dream come true. I’m excited to compete and help my teammates achieve the team’s objectives.”

Capable of playing in midfield and on both wings, the possibilities are endless in regards to where Rojas could end up operating for Martino in this Inter Miami system alongside Messi and Luis Suarez.

With games coming thick and fast for the Herons, Rojas will want to impress early on, especially with the versatile winger now playing alongside his idol for a club that are now one of the most followed on the planet.

Indeed, Rojas has the experience and the quality needed to really succeed in MLS with Inter Miami, and the attacking midfielder will want to hit the ground running in a big way in the weeks to come.
