One 'top tier' McDonald's breakfast item that needs to make a comeback

McDonald’s has just brought back the iconic Breakfast Bagels, but there’s another discontinued item people want to return.

The McMuffins, Hotcakes, Breakfast Burritos and Biscuits just aren’t cutting it for those with a sweet tooth in the morning.

McDonald’s breakfast item needs to return

The fast food chain used to sell a scrumptious breakfast option called Cinnamon Melts, often shortened to Cinnamelts.

Inspired by a cinnamon roll, they were little slices of bread mixed with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. The sweet menu item was served in a black pot and drizzled with lashes of thick, white cream cheese icing.

They were released in the US and Canada in 2007 and discontinued in around 2016, leaving everyone devastated.

Our Cinnamon Melts are sorely missed, but we’re sure you’ll find a new breakfast sweet with the new desserts coming soon!” McDonald’s Canada wrote on Twitter/X.

The menu item was replaced with the McCafé bakery lineup, consisting of an apple fritter, blueberry muffin and cinnamon roll. However, that was discontinued in 2023 too, so there’s now no cinnamon roll option on the McDonald’s menu at all.

People want Cinnamelts back

For years, people have been asking McDonald’s to bring the Cinnamon Melts back, but the chain hasn’t announced any plans to relaunch them.

“Why don’t these exist anymore? I was reminiscing on some popular food items that need to make a comeback and I thought about the Cinnamelts from McDonald’s,” one TikTok user said.

“These were so good like literally top tier. I don’t know what happened to them, but they were amazing.”

“Do you remember when McDonald’s was good and they had Cinnamelts and they had snack wraps? Now they’re kind of just meh,” added another.

Wendy’s recently teamed up with Cinnabon on a similar breakfast item called the Cinnabon Pull-Apart if you want to get your cinnamon fix, but people say it’s just not the same.

More discontinued breakfast options

Cinnamelts aren’t the only discontinued breakfast item that needs to make a comeback.

The fast food chain once sold a delicious Fruit and Yogurt Parfait which disappeared during the pandemic and was great when you wanted something a little healthier.

There was also a Spanish Omelet Bagel, with a sausage patty, one slice of pepper jack cheese, one slice of American cheese and an egg with diced green peppers and onions, all topped off with breakfast sauce.

They once sold Eggs Benedict too, as part of a limited-edition Big Breakfast platter with seasonal side salad and optional hash browns, plus a hot or cold drink.

At least the Breakfast Bagels are back!
