'The loudest...': West Brom reporter said something amazing about Sheffield Wednesday fans during 3-0 win

Sheffield Wednesday thumped West Brom 3-0 in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Sheffield Wednesday took another huge step towards their great escape in the Championship on Saturday, beating West Brom 3-0 at Hillsborough.

Anthony Musaba scored the first goal after 22 minutes, and his seventh in the Championship this season, with Ike Ugbo and Josh Windass scoring in the second half.

The Owls now sit in 20th place of the Championship table ahead of the final day of the season next weekend.

Plymouth Argyle are in 21st and two points behind the Owls after losing against Millwall on Saturday, whilst Birmingham City are a point behind Plymouth in 22nd after drawing 1-1 with Huddersfield Town, who are in 23rd and three points adrift.

There was never any doubt that Sheffield Wednesday fans would sell out Hillsborough for what proved to be a monumental win over West Brom.

The Owls faithful even sold out the extra ticket allocation for this game, doing so in rapid time.

The club revealed before the game vs West Brom that over 33,000 fans would be in attendance, with the official attendance coming in at 33,295.

Sheffield Wednesday’s attendance for the game vs West Brom was the talk of many Owls fans on social media during the game.

And the atmosphere was also hailed by BBC Radio West Midlands reporter Steve Hermon, who posted during the game:

“This is the loudest atmosphere we’ve had at any away ground. They are absolutely relentless Sheffield Wednesday but you have to say Albion have been sloppy as well.”

Danny Rohl has one thing that few others do

Danny Rohl remains the hero for Sheffield Wednesday.

Although he has the players to thank for the club’s turnaround in fortunes this season, none of it would be possible if it wasn’t for Rohl and his magic.

And he’s had a huge helping hand on several occasions this season, most notably against West Brom; a packed out Hillsborough crowd.

When it’s full, it’s one of the most antagonising places for an away team to come, as Hermon’s comments suggest.

Despite Wednesday and West Brom being at polarising ends of the table, the Owls came out on top, looking like top six hopefuls themselves, with the crowd playing a huge part in that.

The Owls finish their season on the road next weekend with a trip to Sunderland who lost 1-0 away at Watford in the Championship on Saturday.

A point at Sunderland would keep Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.
