Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou wants new signings this summer but the club won’t be spending £50m on one top target for their boss.
Postecoglou has had a good first season in charge and some will argue he has earned the right to be backed this summer.
Indeed, it has been reportedly widely elsewhere that Tottenham are indeed set financially and are ready to give Ange plenty of backing in the summer market.
For Postecoglou, that will mean addressing problem positions and improving squad depth.
A new striker is surely going to be on the list, as will a wide player. While further back, a new defender to help out Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could also be target.
However, it is in midfield where most Tottenham fans expect the club to go out and quality in.
But according to a report from Dean Jones for Sportscasting, Tottenham will simply not be shelling out the £50m that could be required to land Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher.
It’s report that Tottenham remain keen on Gallagher. He is a player who has been deemed Postecoglou’s ‘dream’ signing and there was constant talk in January.
However, Tottenham will no be paying £50m for the England man, which could scupper Ange’s plans.

Of course, it’s Chelsea’s perogative to determine what a player is worth to them at the end of the day.
But for Tottenham, there is just no way they can justify spending £50m on Gallagher, surely?
He has been nothing but average for Chelsea in another dismal season for them and in a way, he stands out at times because they are so so poor.
Gallagher is, of course, a talented player and has a lot of the characteristics that Postecoglou wants in a player.
But for £50m, there might well be better out for the club and Tottenham are right to stand there ground here and back away.
The price simply must drop, if Gallagher is to become a Spurs player.
