South America soccer legend Teofilo Cubillas has praised Lionel Messi for what the Argentine international has done to Inter Miami.
The 36-year-old forward has been nothing short of sensational for the Herons this season since returning from injury, with Messi just recently breaking yet another MLS record and being tipped to win the league’s MVP award already.
With Inter Miami sitting top of the Supporters’ Shield standings, Messi and friends have been exceptional for the Florida franchise in 2024, where Tata Martino’s side could create history in a big way this season.
And Peru icon Cubillas has now thanked Messi for all he has done at Inter Miami.

Speaking to AS, Cubillas lauded Messi for his approach to playing with Inter Miami and MLS, with the former FC Porto attacking midfielder impressed with how professional the Argentine has been since moving to Florida.
Since signing for the Herons, Messi has taken his role at Inter Miami as seriously as if the forward was still playing for FC Barcelona, and the results on the pitch speak for themselves.
Cubillas said: “I’ve been to several Inter Miami games and I’ve had a great time. Everything that happened with the arrival of Messi is incredible.
“I thank Messi for that sincerity, honesty and responsibility with which he faces games. I have always admired him because he is another player on the team. He doesn’t behave like a star and he is not selfish. All of us who love football owe him our most sincere gratitude for everything he has given us.”
