Glenn Hoddle delivers instant, brutal Tottenham verdict after their dismal loss to Chelsea tonight

Tottenham Hotspur began the Premier League season well, even looking like potential dark horses for the title at one point.

However, with four league games to go, Spurs are now on the verge of kissing their top-four hopes goodbye.

Indeed, Tottenham may need to look over their shoulders with regards to the Europa League too.

Spurs went into Thursday’s game at Chelsea on the back of two especially disappointing consecutive defeats.

Tottenham fell to a shock 4-0 loss at Newcastle United on 13 April, a result reminiscent of their hammering at St James’ Park a year earlier.

Then came the north London derby, in which Spurs found themselves 3-0 down at one point, though they did at least come close to claiming a late draw.

On Thursday night, Tottenham were hoping to bounce back in their trip to west London, but Chelsea had other ideas.

Spurs were disappointing for much of the game as Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson struck two unanswered goals to give the hosts all three points.

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle, speaking on Premier League Productions after the game, delivered a brutal verdict on how Spurs fared.

What did Glenn Hoddle say about Tottenham loss to Chelsea?

“It was frustrating to watch that performance,” said Hoddle.

“Spurs were very lacklustre, they couldn’t pass the ball and in the final third the amount of times they gave the ball away and had no end product.

“It was a poor poor performance.”

It’s such a shame to see how Spurs are undoing all the hard work from earlier this season with form akin to that of a relegation-battling side.

Postecoglou has a lot of work to do just to try and seal a Europa League spot for next term, and then in the summer, there may be considerable outgoings and incomings at N17.
