Single people are landing dates on LinkedIn

As surprising as it sounds, a large majority of people have found dating partners on the business-focussed social media platform LinkedIn, among other networking sites, according to the survey conducted by Dating News.

Of course, there’s no right or wrong way to meet your special someone, but LinkedIn would be the last place one would imagine to ask someone out.

But, about 52% of men and 51% of women aged between 35 and 40 have met their future dates on social networking platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and others.

Overall, 61% of the people surveyed have found love this way, with daters from San Antonio topping the list at 71%.

And, 30% of respondents noted that they met someone to date at a business event or workplace. That doesn’t mean using LinkedIn or any networking site with just dating in mind will yield the results you are seeking.

Instead, if you bond with someone over professional interests, and should spark fly between the two of you, you could consider a casual conversation over coffee or drinks, to start with.

Other ways to find dates in 2024

Turns out, dating apps aren’t most people’s first choice to find love in 2024 and the chances of bumping into someone interesting outside the black screen are higher.

Single people seem to be more comfortable meeting their future dates on blind dates, with 48% of them having found romance this way.

Social events are next on the list, as 45% of respondents met their romantic interest by socializing in person.

Of course, dating apps are still popular as about 45% of singletons turn to them to find potential daters, while 40% of found love in bars and clubs.

As the study reveals, 30% of people with similar interests in sports and fitness have met their future dates while indulging in their favorite activities, and for about 26% of daters, traveling and commuting have played a big role in their love lives.
