Argentine media delivers Cristian Romero verdict after he scored in last night's win over El Salvador

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero was in international action on Friday night as Argentina recorded a routine 3-0 win over El Salvador.

The Spurs star opened the scoring for the reigning world champions in their friendly at the Lincoln Financial Field in Pennsylvania, United States.

Romero got Argentina up and running with a goal in the 16th minute, rising high and heading home from a pinpoint Angel Di Maria corner.

The Tottenham ace continued to impress, being a rock at the back as usual and helping his nation shut up shop against the opposition.

Enzo Fernandez doubled Argentina’s advantage shortly before the break after a scramble in the box for a healthy 2-0 at the break.

And not long after the restart, Tottenham loanee Giovani Lo Celso added a third from a Lautaro Martinez assist.

What did the Argentine press say about Spurs star Cristian Romero?

The Argentine media liked what they saw from Romero, praising him in their post-match ratings pieces.

TyC Sports gave the Spurs man a 6 out of 10 and wrote: “The usual security. He opened the account with a header that was stronger than a corner.”

Meanwhile, La Popu gave Romero an 8 out of 10 rating for his efforts on the day.

In addition, Goal.com went with an 8 out of 10 rating for the Spurs ace, writing: “Scored a booming header early on and was rock-solid on defense; couldn’t ask anything more of him.”

All in all, a solid display from the Tottenham star, whose importance for Spurs is also just as evident for the Albiceleste.

Argentina are next in action on Tuesday night (3am Wednesday UK time) when they face Costa Rica in a friendly in Los Angeles.

Romero and his teammates are in Copa America action this summer, sharing Group A with Chile, Peru and either Canada or Trinidad & Tobago.
