‘Massive problem’: Pundit tells Sir Jim Ratcliffe to get rid of slow Manchester United midfielder

TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarnino has named the Manchester United midfielder that new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe should sell in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are having a disappointing season and will not finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag’s side, who played in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League this season, may not even end up in the European places.

Not many players have done well for United this season, and one of them is Casemiro.

Casemiro is a Real Madrid legend and was one of the best defensive midfielders in the world during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, if not the best.

The £350,000-a-week (Spotrac) Brazil international midfielder had a good debut season at Old Trafford in 2022-23, but he has not been great this campaign and struggled against Liverpool last weekend. He is on the decline.

There have been injury issues as well for the Brazilian star, who has scored five goals and given three assists in 25 matches in all competitions for United this campaign.

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino is very critical of Casemiro, and the talkSPORT pundit has urged United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to sell the defensive midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United told to get rid of Casemiro in summer transfer window

Cascarino said about Casemiro on talkSPORT: “Casemiro is a massive problem, for me. I watched him against Liverpool. He was the reason why Liverpool kept opening up United, especially in the first half.

“He has never been the quickest, he was never blessed with pace, but, boy, he has got a parachute on now, which is that he has lost a yard, a yard he never really had, because he was never quick. He was a very solid player. They have to move on from players like that, United.”

Manchester United should move on Casemiro

In my opinion, Manchester United should sell Casemiro in the summer transfer window and sign a younger and more dynamic defensive midfielder.

Casemiro is 32 now and is past his best. We have not seen him at his best at United; it was at Real Madrid.

The problem that United could face is finding a club that would sign Casemiro and be willing to pay him high wages.
