Report: Arsenal now ready to sell one of Mikel Arteta's first major signings with £51m replacement identified

Arsenal’s planning for the summer window already seems to be underway and it looks like it could be the end of the road for one of Mikel Arteta’s first big signings.

The Gunners know that more improvements are needed this summer after crashing out of Europe against Bayern Munich and letting Man City back into the title race.

For Mikel Arteta, it is likely to mean saying goodbye to some players who have served him well.

And one of the players Arsenal could cash in on is a player Arteta spent a big chunk of his first ever summer budget on.

Arsenal willing to sell influential midfielder for the right price

The impact Declan Rice has had on this Arsenal team has raised question marks over the other midfielders at the club being up to standard.

Of course, Jorginho has once again had a good season and further forward, the likes of Martin Odegaard continue to excel.

However, there are doubts over some of the other central midfielders in the squad.

And that includes £45m signing, Thomas Partey.

Thomas Partey could be sold by Arsenal

According to a report from ESPN, Arsenal could be willing to listen to offers for Partey once again.

It comes after the Gunners made it clear last summer to interested clubs that they would be willing to sell the Ghanaian if the right offer came in.

In the end, Partey remained in north London.

However, he has once again struggled with fitness issues and going into this summer, ESPN claims that Partey is once again on the chopping block.

Partey’s sale could pave the way for funds to be spent on Spanish midfielder,Martin Zubimendi.

Reports have suggested he is a player really high on the Arsenal scouting teams’ list of potential signings.

Should Partey be sold, then the money would instantly be available for Arsenal to spend the reported £51m needed to land Zubimendi.
