That's more like it as West Ham "hold talks" with amazing Liverpool target

A very reputable source is today claiming West Ham will “hold talks” with amazing Liverpool managerial target Ruben Amorim.

Speculation is mounting that David Moyes will depart West Ham when his contract expires this summer.

As the world is all too aware Jurgen Klopp will be leaving Liverpool this summer.

Klopp is stepping down from the Anfield hotseat, leaving Liverpool a huge hole to fill.

And it is looking increasing likely that the Hammers will wave goodbye to their own manager in the wake of another heavy defeat and discontent over style of play.

A host of managers have been linked with both the Hammers and Liverpool.

Many feel impressive 39-year-old Sporting boss Ruben Amorim would be the perfect manager to take West Ham’s game on to the next level.

Claret and Hugh previously claimed Amorim is on the radar of West Ham’s owners to replace Moyes.

Given the phenomenal job the young boss has done at Sporting, that was an exciting prospect for Hammers fans fed up with Moyes’ risk averse approach.

West Ham “hold talks” with amazing Liverpool target Amorim

We reported that West Ham’s dream looked in tatters earlier this month as Liverpool had ‘opened talks’ with the top young managerial target.

Amorim has since spoken out insisting he has not been secretly interviewed for the Liverpool job and stating his focus was on leading Sporting to the Portuguese title.

West Ham meanwhile have been linked with the rather uninspiring former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui, among others.

But now West Ham have “held talks” with amazing Liverpool target Amorim according to a credible source – The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

That’s more like it.

Ornstein says West Ham have held talks over an ambitious move for the 39-year-old attack-minded boss if Moyes leaves as expected.

Not only that but the journalist states the Hammers job carries appeal for Amorim with Liverpool now unlikely to make him their next boss.

That’s more like it for Hammers

“West Ham are duty-bound to formulate contingency plans and Amorim features prominently in their thinking, with discussions taking place between the parties,” Ornstein reports.

“Another option the east London side have assessed is Julen Lopetegui, however Amorim has emerged as the leading target at present.

“While the potential opening is thought to carry appeal for the 39-year-old Sporting Lisbon head coach, it is unclear where West Ham figure among his possible opportunities.”

Pep Guardiola has previously described Amorim as one of the best coaches around. And it’s easy to see why.

Why West Ham want unique Amorim

He sets his side up in a 3-4-3 system and it fluidly morphs into a 5-2-3 when defending. The Portuguese has his side play in a very aggressive high press style. And he uses highly energetic and physically robust players to get that system to work effectively.

Fans may have caught Sporting’s clashes with Premier League rivals Arsenal in the Europa League last season. If so you could not fail but be impressed by the incredible football the young coach has Sporting playing.

Amorim’s unique style has seen Sporting average three goals per game this season.

Amorim has only been managing for six years and has been in charge of Sporting since 2020.

Since then, he has transformed the Portuguese giants into one of the most entertaining and dangerous teams to watch on the planet.
