Gary Neville makes North London derby prediction as Jurgen Klopp issues Tottenham warning

Catch a round-up of the latest Tottenham news, including updates on Gary Neville, the North London Derby, Jurgen Klopp, Champions League qualification and Ivan Toney.

Gary Neville makes North London derby prediction

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has given his prediction on how the North London derby will play out over the weekend.

Tottenham play host to bitter rivals Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with both teams hopeful of ending their season in the strongest position possible.

Spurs are still chasing down Champions League qualification, while the Gunners are looking to win a first Premier League in 20 years.

With the reverse fixture ending in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates, Ange Postecoglou will be aiming for a first win in the derby.

Giving his prediction on the upcoming clash, Neville said on Sky Sports: “Arsenal cannot be shocked on Sunday. It’s going to be potentially almost like a bloodbath in the first 15-20 minutes.

“The Tottenham fans don’t want Arsenal to win the league. I’ve just been in London so much in the last few weeks.

“I go in the black cabs all the time and if you bump into a Tottenham fan they’ll say, ‘Who do you think will win the league?’

“And I’ll go, ‘Sorry, I hope Arsenal probably win it because you know, City and Liverpool.’ And they’ll go, ‘I hope not!’ Like that type of feeling exists.”

Jurgen Klopp issues Tottenham warning

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has warned his team that they are not guaranteed Champions League football yet, referencing the possibility of Tottenham catching them.

The Reds sit 14 points clear of the Lilywhites, though Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou does have two games in hand that could reduce that gap to eight points.

Factor in a head-to-head clash between Liverpool and Tottenham in early May and the margins could be even finer.

Talking after his side’s defeat to Everton in the Merseyside Derby, Klopp told the BBC’s Match of the Day: “I don’t know about Everton’s achievement, I thought they would be safe after that but Sean Dyche knows them better.

“We need them [Manchester City] to lose games [in the title race] and historically they don’t do that. Arsenal didn’t look very weak last night [against Chelsea].

“We have to play better, that is it. We need points, we are not safe in the Champions League [qualification places]. Tottenham have played a lot of games less than us.”

Tottenham consider Ivan Toney bid

With the summer transfer window just around the corner, Tottenham continue to be linked with a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Spurs aren’t alone in their reported interest, as the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have also been rumoured with a potential move.

However, it could be a case of which team blinks first with an official offer may.

That team may well be the Lilywhites as GiveMeSport claims that a £45million bid is being considered for Toney this summer.

The offer is claimed to test the resolve of the Bees, as the forward only has one year remaining on his contract.

Where that will take the England international, it remains to be seen, however, it may give Spurs a chance to finally land a true replacement for Harry Kane.
