Nintendo promises there will be a new console in less than 80 years

Nintendo will unveil their next console in the next 80 years.

The company revealed in their latest corporate management briefing that they are working on new hardware, following the success of the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo Switch.

However, whilst they confirmed something new would be on the way in a Future Outlook portion of the presentation, a date for the new console has yet to be given with it just saying it will be released in "20XX", confirming it will be before 2100.

Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that the Nintendo Switch was July 2020's best-selling console.

American market research company 'The NPD Group' have calculated that Nintendo's console, which was first released back in 2017, was the most popular video game console in July 2020 in terms of sales.

NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said: "Nintendo Switch was once again the best-selling hardware platform of both July and 2020 year-to-date in unit and dollar sales".

When it comes to games made exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, 'Paper Mario: The Origami King' sold the most copies in July, and 'Animal Crossing: New Horizons' is still proving to be popular, since that came in second place.
