Over the years, Jan Jensen has probably turned down at least a dozen head coaching opportunities at that college level. She stayed at Iowa and one day hoped that she would land her dream job. The world of Iowa women’s basketball changed earlier this week with the retirement of Lisa Bluder and the nearly immediate hiring of associate head coach Jan Jensen to take over the leadership of the program. Leave it to Caitlin Clark to continue to make history and re-write the record books. The Iowa standout did just that on Tuesday when she was named the winner of the James E. Sullivan Award. The honor has been around for 94 years and this is the first time that it has been won by the same person two years in a row. One of Kentucky’s premier players from last season is reportedly taking a visit to one of the premier programs in women’s college basketball. On Saturday “Skim Milkey”, the women’s basketball version of the popular X/Twitter burner account Trilly Donovan, reported thatMaddie Scherr will be taking a visit to Iowa on Thursday. The bond between the Iowa women’s basketball team and their fans was on full display on Wednesday night as approximately 8,000 Hawkeye fans filled Carver-Hawkeye Arena to celebrate another runner-up finish in the NCAA Tournament.
