West Ham hit with major int'l break injury blow to key man but contrasting claims cause confusion

So it seems as though West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has picked up an injury whilst away on international duty with Ghana.

Mohammed Kudus has established himself as a key man for West Ham so far this season, so the news that he has picked up an injury is extremely concerning.

The 23-year-old has received plaudits from fans and media publications alike, with Gary Neville raving about the unpredictable winger last month.

He has taken the Premier League by storm, and he has to go down as one of the very best signings of the summer transfer window.

Signed by David Moyes from Ajax in the summer of 2023 for around £38 million (Sky Sports), Kudus has bagged 12 goals and four assists in 34 games for the Hammers so far this season (Transfermarkt).

He is a truly exceptional player and the West Ham fans should think ourselves lucky that we have him. Without him, we are quite simply not the same team.

And with that in mind, the latest news currently emerging is hugely concerning…

Contrasting Mohammed Kudus injury claims

So, confirmed news is now doing the rounds that the Ghanian has returned to West Ham from his country’s training camp due to an injury.

Just as Moyes got a fully fit squad of players together, it seems as though we may have been hurt by the tedious international break yet again.

Ghana Soccer Net were the first to report that Mohammed Kudus has withdrawn from the Ghana squad for their upcoming international fixtures against Nigeria and Uganda this month.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. GSN claim that the issue bothering Kudus is a shoulder problem. However, Ryan Taylor of the Daily Mirror reckons that the 23-year-old is suffering with a slight knee injury.

Whatever the injury suffered by Mohammed Kudus, we just have to hope that it’s nothing too serious, because if we are without him for a sustained period of time, we will really struggle.

The former Ajax attacker seems like a really strong and fit young man to me, and I’m just hoping that his withdrawal from the Ghana squad was nothing more than a precautionary measure.
