Report: Michael Edwards is now looking at signing 'one of the best talents in the world' for Liverpool

Michael Edwards made a name for himself as one of the brightest minds in football during his first stint at Liverpool.

The 44-year-old famously convinced Jurgen Klopp to ignore a move for Julian Brandt and sign Mohamed Salah from Roma instead.

Edwards also proved to be a shrewd operator when it came to signing elite talents, snapping up Harvey Elliott from Fulham for just £4.3m – a jewel who is now being valued at €85m (£73m).

The man from Southampton also snapped up Dominic Solanke after his contract at Chelsea expired – before selling the now prolific Englishman to Bournemouth for £19m.

Now, there is another top talent who Michael Edwards is hoping to sign for Liverpool in his new role as CEO of Football at Anfield…

Michael Edwards wants Jamal Musiala at Liverpool

Well – according to the Independent – Liverpool are hoping to sign Bayern Munich No.42 Jamal Musiala.

It is said that Liverpool are among a number of top European clubs looking to buy the Germany international this summer, as he seeks assurances over Bayern Munich’s ability to compete at the very highest level.

The Independent explain how Musiala is currently showing no signs of extending or even improving the terms of his contract – which expires in July 2026 – amid what has been a miserable season for Bayern Munich.

It is also said that interested clubs believe the 21-year-old could be available at the end of the current campaign, or in the summer of 2025.

Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are mentioned as the other elite clubs looking to sign Musiala.

The latter are regarded as the favourites, as Pep Guardiola aims to sign a long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

This would be a special signing

If Edwards can strike an agreement with Bayern Munich, it would get the post Klopp era off to a fantastic start.

Musiala is widely regarded as one of the best footballers on the planet – let alone just one of the best young talents.

Lionel Messi even placed the man from Stuttgart ahead of Jude Bellingham in his vote for the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony recently.

Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano also called Musiala “one of the best talents in the world” when revealing that Klopp is personally a huge fan of the attacking midfielder.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Edwards would see his popularity at Liverpool soar if he manages to sign the German this summer.
