'I'd be leaving': Former Tottenham player says 25-year-old needs to get out of Arsenal

Mikel Arteta will have to make a decision on a number of fringe players at Arsenal in the summer, with the Spaniard’s rigid flexibility when it comes to selection leaving many without required game time.

The likes of Emile Smith-Rowe, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and plenty more are far too good to be warming the bench at Arsenal. Players capable of playing high up in the Premier League, elsewhere.

For Aaron Ramsdale, the summer cannot come quick enough. Not because he is disillusioned at Arsenal, but simply to kickstart his career and save his international career – after being made the no.2 stopper.

Mikel Arteta’s move to bring David Raya to the club, and the Spanish boss making him no.1, was much criticised and questioned in the media. But it has proven to be the right one, with Raya impressing.

Aaron Ramsdale has a big decision to make, and so do Arsenal

It left Ramsdale feeling hurt and “suffering”. He has since played just 11 games for The Gunners this term, keeping three clean sheets and conceding 12 goals. Brad Friedel says Ramsdale has got to leave Arsenal.

The England man is not going to be short of suitors this summer. Newcastle are interested and Ramsdale is said to be keen on a move – of course, if he is considered first ahead of England teammate Nick Pope.

Speaking about Ramsdale on ESPN FC, former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Kasey Keller urged the Arsenal goalkeeper to leave The Emirates – in order to get game time, highlighting Ramsdale’s age.

“Ramsdale is 25, there is clearly going to have to be a point with his agents, the club, where they have to figure out his future. Needs to be playing. Everyone was surprised that was the direction Arsenal went in.”

Keller is not the first to say it, plenty think Ramsdale leaves

Pundit after pundit have touted an exit for Ramsdale this summer. Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist recently agreed that it would be best for the former Sheffield United man to leave The Emirates this summer.

Another, in John Hartson, said he cannot believe that Ramsdale has not already asked to depart the North London club. So, it is expected that Ramsdale will move on. He is said to be keen on a move to Newcastle.

Ultimately, if Ramsdale harbors any ambition of becoming England’s no.1 – then he has to move away from Arsenal. A club towards the top end of the Premier League certainly suits Ramsdale, this summer.
