'Honestly': Patrick Bamford shares the real reason why he won't be watching Leicester game tonight

Leicester City resume Championship action this evening as they play host to fourth-placed Southampton.

The good feeling is back at King Power Stadium after Enzo Maresca‘s side secured a 2-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion on the weekend.

It moved The Foxes back to the summit of the table and they now need two wins from their remaining three games to seal automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Many Leicester players and supporters would’ve had a close eye on Leeds United’s win against Middlesbrough yesterday.

Though, Patrick Bamford has shared the reason why he won’t be keeping tabs on the East Midlanders tonight.

Bamford netted in Leeds’ 4-3 away win at the Riverside Stadium yesterday.

The West Yorkshire outfit moved into second with victory and just one point behind Leicester, albeit having played a game more.

Asked by Sky Sports presenter David Prutton if he’ll be watching Leicester against Southampton, Bamford said: “Do you know what, I’ll probably be watching the Arsenal game.”

“It’s just because of the nerves, it’s just for the nerves, honestly.”

Whilst Bamford won’t be watching, Daniel Farke and many of his players will likely be keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Should Leicester win, they’d move four points clear and almost out of sight, though, any less than that, and Leeds will be rubbing their hands together believing they can surmount the gap.

Leicester City can’t drop points after Leeds United win

There’s no room for error this evening after Leeds’ win.

Maresca’s side must put the Saints under the cosh from the first whistle, or else they’ll be at risk of allowing them to control the game, as they so often do.

Against Albion, City had less possession which is a rarity and that was detrimental to their display, as they conceded a number of chances which should’ve been taken, really.

Southampton have that little bit more quality and players like Adam Armstrong and Che Adams only need a sniff.

So the hosts need to be much better tonight and should consider bringing Callum Doyle back into the side. The Manchester City loanee started on the bench on the weekend with Wout Faes in his position.

Maresca should consider putting Faes back out to right centre-back to deal with the pace of Armstrong, who will likely operate as a left-winger.

Further, Doyle’s inclusion on the left adds a different profile to the attack, as his long diagonal balls and crosses can cause a real threat.
